All community members, attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers at our events must agree with the following code of conduct. The AfroMedics will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.

We expect that every event we organize provides a welcoming, inclusive, and harassment-free environment for all attendees, sponsors, and organizers. We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, showing sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. No sexual language and imagery are not appropriate at any of our event venues and our online media. Any event participant or community member violating these rules is expected to comply when asked to stop, or they will be expelled from the event without a refund at the discretion of the event organizers.

All sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. Sponsors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. Volunteers should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes or otherwise create a sexualized environment. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of our team. We value you. 

The AfroMedics has no tolerance regarding suitcasing and outboarding at our live events. Suitcasing describes what happens when a non-sponsoring party gains access to an event and then solicits business from the attendees without the authorization of the organizers. If any event attendee at our event is found soliciting business, they will be asked to leave immediately without a refund at the discretion of the event organizers. 

Outboarding is an unethical practice when a concurrent event related to an already existing event seeks to benefit from the attendees of the organizer’s event. Like outboarding, partial outboarding refers to a situation where sponsoring companies pay minimally for sponsoring but choose to organize events that the organizers do not sanction for the attendees of the organizer’s event. This practice is unethical and would not be tolerated at The AfroMedics. 

We implore all our community members, sponsors, partners, and attendees to be attentive to sponsors at our events. If you are invited to any other event at any of our official events that clash with our events’ timing, we ask that you decline such an invitation. Also, if you are given any product at our event and the brand offering you that product is not one of our listed sponsors, we ask you not to accept the product. These actions will go a long way in supporting our events and community. We are glad you are a part of this community.
